Senior Medical Practitioner at Barwon Correctional Centre, located at Lara in Victoria. Full-time 

Attractive Package Salary of $350,000 (plus $27,500 Super) + Relocation. 

 

About the roles

The Senior Medical Practitioner will provide and supervise medical care to prisoners by delivering and evaluating medical programs and medical services required and/or provided.

The Senior Medical Practitioner coordinates hours of service and on-call responsibilities in consultation with the Health Services Manager and the Director, Medical Services.

Opportunities exist for full-time Senior Medical Practitioners at Barwon prison. Salary package for full-time position is $377,500 (including $27,500 super); and a pro-rata amount for part-time position. In addition, "relocation" will be considered for candidates required to move to take up their new role.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Medical practitioner currently registered by the Medical Board of Australia (from 1 July 2010).
  • Fellowship of the FRACGP.
  • Documentary evidence of medical indemnity insurance.
  • A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience.
  • High written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Demonstrated competence in provision of high-quality care.
  • Willingness to undertake regular professional development relevant to the position.
  • Computer skills relevant to the role.
  • Experience in mental health, drug and alcohol and emergency care. (Desirable)

Other Requirements of the role:

  • Valid Australian driver’s licence and the ability to travel between locations.
  • Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
